Elk Watershed Discovery Camp 2021 is now officially open for registration at the College of the Rockies Fernie Campus! Check out this awesome week-long day camp filled with smiles, splashes and skills for youth aged 7-14! The Elk River Discovery Camp gives kids the chance to make friends and develop outdoor skills throughout our mountain community. We have an emphasis on environmental stewardship and learning about the natural environment in which we live and play.
Develop skills in:
- Water and river safety skills
- Paddleboarding and canoeing
- River hydrology
- Ecosystem and ecology
- Fishing and fish ecology
- Environmental Stewardship activities
- Cultural appreciation and learning opportunities
- Wild yoga
Cost (includes rafting trip)
Ages 7-10: $340
Ages 10-14: $350
Note: Ages 7-10 camps will take a modified ‘River Mild’ all-day rafting trip with Canyon Raft down the upper elk between Sparwood and Fernie. Ages 10-14 camp will be rafting the ‘River Wild’ Elk River canyon with Canyon Raft. Please see the Canyon Raft website for more details.
Raft day will be on the Friday of the camp week. This will include lunches for all campers.
9 am drop off
Pick up at 4 pm
Drop off is typically at the College of the Rockies, Fernie. However in the event Covid-19 restrictions prevent the use of busses, we may require alternative drop-off locations within the Town of Fernie. This will be communicated before the start of the Camp week.
- Camper must provide their own lunches and snacks (except raft day).
- 1 life Jacket per camper
- Water appropriate footwear: sturdy sandals or shoes. No flipflops
- Weather appropriate clothing (rain gear if necessary)
