The Elk River Alliance has launched a fundraising campaign to support community-based water monitoring on Lizard and Alexander Creeks. Since 2011, ERA has collected data on water quality and aquatic ecosystem health using Streamkeepers, Canadian Aquatic Biomonitoring Network (CABIN) and Sensitive Habitat Inventory Mapping (SHIM) protocols. This information was summarized in 2013 (view report, view appendices) and trends will be analyzed again in 2016. Monitoring helps ERA to prioritize community involvement in activities that conserve, restore, enhance and steward aquatic ecosystems, wetlands and riparian areas. Summarized reports are widely shared to increase and ease public access to information about the Elk River watershed strengthening our collective watershed literacy. Your donation will go towards water samples, equipment, coordination of monitoring and restoration efforts. Thank you for caring for our water!
