2021 Annual General Meeting

We invite all Elk River Alliance members to attend the 2021 Annual General Meeting, as well as any residents and supporters of the Elk Valley community interested in learning more about the organization.

Our AGM will be completely virtual this year! Join us on Monday, March 1st from 6:30 pm - 8 pm for a review of 2020, a preview of 2021, reporting, board recognition and nominations. We'll also be drawing 'door' prizes with some sweet Patagonia loot!

Upcoming Annual General Meeting

The Elk River Alliance is hosting it's 2019 Annual General Meeting on Saturday February 29th. Come learn what the Elk River Alliance has been doing this year, and what is in store for 2020.  We are meeting at the Fernie Nordic Warming Hut for a social ski from 6:00 to 7:00 PM, and then hosting the AGM from 7:30 to 8:30 PM. Bring a potluck snack to share and enjoy a relaxed and informative evening among friends. All are welcome. 


Community Night & ARTIFISHAL Screening 2020



Join the ERA on January 31st, 2020 at the Fernie Arts Station from 6-8:30pm to learn about some of their ongoing projects, followed by a screening of Patagonia’s film "Artifishal”. There will be FBC beer and door prizes donated by FBC and Patagonia, so be sure to arrive by 6pm to be entered into the draw and grab a beverage before the evening begins.

Upcoming Streamkeepers Course: October 5-6, 2019

Join the Elk River Alliance for an incredible hands-on learning opportunity that you won’t want to miss! To register and pay click here.

This is citizen scientist training that is recommended if you wish to participate in our community-based water monitoring program! The two day course is valued at $225 but we are pleased to be able to offer it to ERA members for a nominal registration fee of $25 (non-members for $50). The course will run October 5-6, 2019 from 9am until 4pm. On October 5th, we will be at Boivin Creek in Elkford and on October 6th we will be at Alexander Creek (east of Sparwood). Carpooling is available and encouraged.

Curious about water quality in the Elk Valley?

Join the ERA from 6-7pm on March 28th, 2019 in Elkford to learn about our community-based water monitoring program. We will share data from 8 years of monitoring on 2 Elk River tributaries (Lizard & Alexander Creeks) as well as future plans to expand this program!

Stay for dinner and a movie! We will be serving pizza, beer and wine. At 7pm, we will be screening the film Where The Yellowstone Goes, by donation. This documentary follows a 30-day drift boat trip down the Yellowstone River, the longest undammed river in the US.

Streamkeeper course in Elkford!

Join the Elk River Alliance for Streamkeepers training on beautiful Boivin Creek in Elkford!

Get your hands wet and feet muddy while learning Streamkeepers water monitoring protocols to assess aquatic health. Become a certified Streamkeeper and collect meaningful water quality data on local streams to contribute to community-based water monitoring efforts.

'Streamkeepers' is a BC developed water monitoring protocol designed by the Pacific Streamkeepers Federation. Data is collected by trained citizen scientists and can be used for many purposes, including, providing data to community members, industry and all levels of government as well as prioritizing sites for restoration/enhancement activities. The cost of this 2 day workshop training is $25 for ERA members and $50 for non-members with subsidies available if required.

Upcoming 2017 AGM

Please join the Elk River Alliance for a celebration of watershed accomplishments in 2017 at our AGM, Thursday March 8 6-8 p.m. at the Fernie Arts Station on 1st Ave.  Learn what is planned for 2018.  Bring something to share at the potluck and social from 6-6:45, meeting until 8.
